Why it counts in twos

Fiddlers count a reel in two half-note beats per bar, so “a reel at 112” means 112 half notes a minute: 224 on a metronome counting quarter notes. Jigs and slides are counted in dotted quarters, slip jigs in three. Pick the tune type and the beat is set for you.
